It's not that they have ignorance of history (and thus repeat it), it's that "hope springs eternal in the human breast"; each new generation is desperate for "a better world" so they are pre-conditioned to swallow uncritically any ideology which is out there promising utopia. They think human means (political, economic, scientific, whatever) can make "a better world" - but that really requires better <i>people</i>, and people are by nature inclined to badness (a fact they are blinded to by secularism/materialism) - so, in this generation at least, they willingly sign up to the Church of Climatology (another good phrase I've read; not my own - but somtimes I <i>do</i> think up my own).
