Unlike Christ, Muhummad was a temporal ruler involved in perpetuating political violence to perpetuate, consolidate and expand his fiefdom. Jihad was something that Muhammad unleashed on rival clans and ethnic communities during his life time. While there is absolutely no doubt that hideous atrocities have been committed in the name of Christianity - Jesus did not ever develop a concept of holy war to unleash on his rivals because temporal power was entirely beside the point.
