Dear Bill,
If these churches are not preaching the Unconditional Gospel of Grace and inclusion, then the quicker they go the better! Clear the decks for the TRUTH! And the truth is a man. The God Man-Jesus Christ! Our Brother! Good news is that we are included in Him whether we want to be or not! Are we going to receive the free gift or continue to work the "do more try harder religious route", which is what is failing? The true Bride of Christ does not fail-because He did not fail!
Yours in THEM, Father,Son and Holy Spirit,
Lou d'Alpuget

I predict that some of the Australian mega churches are going to bite the dust as they are personality driven and God has made it quite clear that he will not share his glory with another person.

Gamaliel said in Acts 5: 38-39

"What I suggest, therefore, is that you leave these men alone and let them go. If this enterprise, this movement of theirs, is of human origin it will break up of its own accord; but if it does in fact come from God you will be unable to destroy them. Take care not to find yourselves fighting against God."

Holiness is a grace, perseverance is another grace (see the writings of Paul). For the Church to continue on, and on, and on, is a MORAL MIRACLE, something beyond the human, evidence of God and His plans.

Thank you for your work, Bill!

Bill,

This is a heart-breaking story. Thank you for drawing it to our attention and for your insightful comments, particularly the emphasis on the Bride of Christ being purified and that judgment begins at the household of God (I Peter 4:17).

May the Lord bless and honour you for your Christian commentary -- even when bad things happen among God's people.

I can hear the critics saying something like: "That's the problem with charismatic Christianity," and then proceed to debunk the charismata.

However, I do not judge all people by observing the obese. Here we have sinful excess that has been tested and found wanting.

On Churches Failing

I suspect it is not hard to work out is going wrong.

Matthew 7:24-27
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."

Matthew 25:35,36
‘For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

Churches spending too much time looking inwards, not enough going out into the world and putting His words into practice.
