Recently a young 10 year old girl was raped because she was wearing a G string - I have yet to hear any of any objection from this group that protects the rights of women. Does the feminist movement only apply to western civilisation - there are very few comments as to women's rights in other cultures where they are abused both physically and mentally. Many feminists may be quick to point out articles written in protest to such treatment, but I must ask "what were the results?' The feminist movement, in my opinion, disregards the wishes of the majority of women who want to be respected and appreciated for their contribution to society and concentrates on the militarism of the minority. I must point out that I have been happily married to a woman who is proud of her femininity for 20 wonderful years. I appreciate and value her. There was a story in the SMH in the last few days of a woman who had been violently abused by her mother and had received no help at all from feminist groups as it was the woman and not the male parent who had abused her. The focus is so one-eyed to the point that it ignores all but their own agenda (like many of the Left's stances). It reminds me of the 'ignorance' of the mainstream media towards the violence committed against Aboriginal women and children as the MSM were torn between whether feminism or Aboriginal issues was the cause de jour; little to do with justice and lots to do with their own ideological warm glow. Why is a group out there fighting for my right to abortion when I am completely against it? Nobody deserves the right to take life which God gives. Only He who creates can end. All life is a miracle despite how difficult the situation. Abortion can cause more damage than relief. Feminism reminds me of a fraternity where if you're not in with the crowd, you're out. I'm embarrassed, as a woman, with many of the issues the Feminist Movement are so strongly fighting for. It moves further and further away from biblical truth.
