Greg Koukl had a great article on similar lines, Christianity's Real Record. He points out how misotheists frequently exaggerate atrocities by professing Christians (acting inconsistently with Christianity), ignoring the huge benefits of our Christian heritage (promoted by those acting consistently with Christianity) and the mass atrocities of atheists (acting consistently with their atheism which entails no moral absolutes).

19 (not 25) 'witches' were burned before Christians stopped the Salem witch trials. The Spanish Inquisition killed about 2,000 (rather than 10,000). Secular prisoners are on record seeking conviction as heretics so they would transfer to the more humane Inquisition jails –hence claims that 100,000 died in Inquisition prisons seem excessive.
Sadly many thousands have been killed in Christ's name. But those who actually follow Jesus teaching are, and were, the driving force stopping slavery, starting the schools, hospitals, unions, democracy and the rule of law - which undergird all that the east envies in the west.
In contrast, many tens of millions have been killed: in Belgian Congo; by Nazi Germany; by various Communist regimes; all in the atheistic belief that 'we' are better than 'them'.

As a belief system Atheism is itself a religion but one that has forsaken God. We might then regard it as a 'god forsaken religion' without any absolute moral foundation. Consquently, secure concepts concerning the value of life and property do not exist. Futhermore, when the survival of the fittest aspects of evolutionary theory are also taken into account why do we wonder that Atheistic domination has promoted such devastating bloodshed over this last 100 years or so?

With atheism, there are no moral absolutes. It does not matter how hard evolutionary moralists argue, their arguments will not stand up as there is no absolute deity to be accountable to. Indeed, the highest value in Darwinism is survival of the fittest, which was what all these major atheistic tyrants of history were faithful to!

Atheism is a self defeating belief system and yes, it leads to terrible consequences for those who hold it and everyone they affect. The engine of atheism is naturalism, that everything made itself. And the heart of naturalism is the concept of a billion-year-old earth. Time + chance is the creative force, according to atheists.
