I hope Julie Bishop is getting some ‘thank you’ letters for sticking her neck out and saying what is ‘politically incorrect’. Even John Howard said something about parents moving children to private schools due to the lack of values taught at public schools – remember that?

Thank you for this posting .The data fits my experience as a parent of students,18years, and 25 years of teaching RE both at Prinary and Secondary level. I have been talking up the voucher system since the late 70s.

The trouble with identifying ‘radical’, or ‘communistic’ trends in schooling is with definition. After all, even Joe McCarthy said he only wanted the most radical of communists expelled from public service, science and the arts.

Where you lose me is that your assertion that such a clear line can be easily drawn. So far, you have only shown that you have the omniscience to define where the boundary lines should be drawn. If I doubt you, where does that place me?

I do not accept your assertions without evidence. One example; to simply assert that any mention of gays is the same as being communistic takes me back to the American Baptist preachers I heard decrying civil rights support for US blacks as being communistic.

I agree with the basic sentiments of Julie Bishop. I would not make a federal HSC compulsory but voluntary in line with Liberal Party philosphy of free market wherever possible. I like the idea of voucher system put I would extend it to primary eduction as well. I do not agree with Mrs Bishop re compulsory preschool education. It is a failed* policy in every communist regime. * according to the Biblical standards of child development.
