How refreshing to read such timely words. I must say I am finding it much later than it was written, nevertheless it is still powerful. The troubling trend I am witnessing is the fall of the servant hearts. There may be a strong tie between the two subjects. For the heart of the servant is toward the well being and best interest of another before your own. We call this self-lessness. To be selfish is to put your own interest first and that spawns greed and the downward spiral has begun. May God help us!

Dear Bill, You need to sound the alarm. Britain without any one being aware, except for a handful of people, passed from liberty into bondage and marxist oppression, last Wednesday night, 21st March 2007. All that thousands had fought and died for, some in the most brutal fashion, over the previous centuries, was lost during one vital debate in the House of Lords. Rub your eyes, pinch yourself, put it in your diary. It has really happened. The Sexual Orientation Regulation engine has started and on April 30st it leaves the station to inexorably pull Britain into the darkness. Wake up Australia.

Dear Bill, Britain is on the verge of enforcing with the utmost vigour, the Sexual Orientation Regulations – due to start rolling in April. Could this be the definitive tipping point for our nation – the cancer within? I would like to find more evidence from history that it was due the destruction of the family that caused the rest of a nation to follow suit.

I was glad to be present when Bill first delivered this ‘paper’, here in Ulverstone, Tasmania. It is important that this sort of work is being done ‘on the road’ and not just in academic halls. For it is amidst the general public that a change needs to occur, as well as in the academic and governmental arena.

We may yet be part of a significant awakening to know and participate in the great things of humanity, namely the people who are being formed by this Word. The recovery of the Word – such as this is – as central to our cultural life, is something that can take place. As I understand things, societies, like human beings, can turn anew to that which gives life, without degenerating to rock bottom. Certainly a rock bottom sense of collapse, is an essential part of turning anew. But many come to genuine faith, at points other than in the gutter.

It was Jacques Ellul, who said:
“Anyone wishing to save humanity today must first of all save the word”.

This is what Bill seems to be about. May we join him.

“How will WE respond?”, Bill asks. I agree that ‘forgiveness’ and ‘healing’ starts with ME, then with US, before it can affect THEM (our nation, unbelievers, our world).
I am involved with fellow believers who are supporting fellow believers and unbelieving neighbours who suffer loss of reputation, health, employment, sustenance and even life and family. And we are praying believingly to God in Christ for these needy ones; and God in Christ is answering those prayers marvellously.
And we are making substantial attempts to repeat these actions in ever-widening circles, from the City to the drought-stricken Country, from Australia to Aceh and Africa and Afghanistan. This costly love demonstrates this God in Christ’s Kingly rule over the world and the reality of our allegiance to him.
Keep pressing on Bill. You have my support.

Thank you Bill for your article. Our secondary students are studying “How Now Shall We Live” by Nancy Pearcey and Chuck Colson and the end conclusion is the same. It is sad to see society heading towards a decline and collapse very quickly, but you are right that we are here for a purpose and I like the way you expressed it.
